Nursery Sales Manager

Pre-requisite Read Nursery Sales Associate Position, or Similar Job Experience.  

The Nursery Sales Manager position is an important role that requires attention to detail and a can-do attitude. Your main priority will always be the needs of the customer and making sure they get the help they are seeking. In addition to providing high level customer service, you will also be helping a team of people with the daily functions of keeping our store looking clean, fully stocked, and beautiful. The qualified candidate must possess leadership experience in retail sales, establishing and obtaining goals, team building, and excellent communication skills.  Strong computer skills, horticultural knowledge, and landscape industry experience isa must.  This candidate would enjoy working outside of course and possess the drive to take this department to the next level through insightful marketing and merchandising campaigns.

Qualifications:

·     Years (2+) of provable experience in at least one of these areas: Horticulture sales, garden center sales, or other plant-based industry.  We have a test that must betaken and passed to validate you are qualified.

·     Valid driver’s license with good driving record is valued.

·     Able to workin all-weather types and potentially the extremes: wet and cold, or hot and dry   

·     Pesticide applicators license is valued but not required.

·     Able to comfortably lift 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the day.

·     Availability to work weekends during our busy season.

Responsibilities:

  • Restocking and caring for plant material.
  • Ordering nursery stock and quality control of nursery stock. Oversee production of nursery stock and maintain healthy plant material.
  • Unloading and loading of trucks carrying plant material, hard goods, customer deliveries, etc. 
  • Coordinate nursery needs and the fulfillment of those needs plus contribute to work lists provided by upper management when provided.
  • Establish nursery pricing, set up nursery displays, maintain needed inventory levels.
  • Coordinate in store associates and contribute to accomplishing day to day nursery objectives. 
  • Provide and promote exceptional customer service.
  • Play a key role in determining sales and coordinate the sales through social media.

  • Utilize Quick Books accounting software to track sales goals and help management to decipher and generate sales goals.

In store planting – crew members are tasked with installing small landscape and or maintenance projects, tree plantings, and deliveries. This individual may be shifted into in store nursery sales as needed on occasion. Deliveries are also a function of this job.

  • Minimum (1+) years of landscaping and or nursery sales experience.

  • Displays a positive, “can-do” demeanor.
  • Willingness to shift into other areas where team member support is needed.
  • Chemical pesticide applicators license encouraged/valued but not required.
  • Some Saturdays are required.

Responsibilities:

  • Communicates with customers and crew members on jobs.
  • Capable of operating and transporting skid steers.
  • Capable of installing basic landscape projects without supervision (from load out to unloading)
  • Tracks project materials and labor information and fills out paperwork at end of project.
  • Expected to teach less experienced crew members basic landscaping skill sets.
  • Understands, completes, and turns in needed paperwork on landscape jobs worked on.
  • Utilizes leadership skills to help build team unity while maintaining company efficiency goals

Note:  This position leads to a Landscape foreman position.

This can be a full-time, part-time and or seasonal position

An estimated wage rate of $22.50-25 per hour based on qualifications and work ethic. Uniforms are supplied, you provide appropriate boots/shoes (with certain requirements),knife, and gloves. A boot fund is offered after 1 year of employment with us.
